THE COUNCIL OF EUROPE PREPARATORY MEETINGS HELD AT CCCL

1 - BACKGROUND OF MEETINGS

The Council of Europe is considering setting up a pilot project to support democratic governance and participation of young people in policies related to youth issues.

This project is primarily intended to Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia and neighboring countries.

Two main activities will take place in April 2013 namely, a training of trainers and a Euro-Maghreb seminar.

2 - PREPARATORY MEETING FOR THE TRAINING OF TRAINERS

The first event to be held in Morocco from 6 to 13 April 2013 will be devoted to the training of trainers to promote democratic values and strengthen the protection of human rights in youth programs conducted by organizations and public services.

In this regard, the Council of Europe held a preparatory meeting for the organization of a training of trainers and multipliers. This meeting was held in the premises of the Center for Cross Cultural Learning (CCCL) on 8 and 9 March 2013 and was devoted to preparations for this training: definition of contents, participant and expert trainers’ profiles, documentation and others.

3 - PREPARATORY MEETING FOR THE INTER REGIONAL SEMINAR OF RESEARCHERS

The second activity in turn, is an interregional seminar for researchers in the field of youth. This seminar, which will gather about 25 scientists from the Council of Europe and the Maghreb countries, will provide an opportunity for European researchers to meet with their counterparts from the Maghreb for discussion and sharing of experiences and development and support of youth policies.

A preparatory meeting was held at the CCCL building 8 and 9 March 2013 to define the contextual framework of this event, decide on dates and working languages, profiles of participants, mode of recruitment and the distribution of tasks,
